Wherever ebooks are sold…

* Update * – I’m no longer selling in other stores, just Amazon for now.

A bit of news: I’ve published “Kick” on iBookstore, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and Google Play. Still isn’t searchable on any of them, other than Google Play, but I’m assured by the folks at Draft2Digital they’ll catch up. In time. Way in the future when we’re all flying in bubbles 🙂

Open Letter to Indie Authors

This is pretty good.

Open Letter Graphic

1/6/2014 – AN UPDATE ON THE UPDATE – I have been approving 100% of the comments left on this post.  I haven’t hidden a single thing.  I have received exactly FOUR pieces of negative feedback on this open letter, three of which were about my use of profane language.  Due to this, I feel it necessary to issue this warning:  I say ‘fuck’ a lot.  If you don’t like it, take a hike because you’re not going to like what you’re about to read.    Sorry to be a bitch about it but this is MY blog.  That’s like going to someone’s house and ragging at them because of the way they do something in their own home.  Had I posted it on YOUR blog, you’d have the right to complain about it.  Instead, you’re posting the comment just to have something to say.

GOING FORWARD:  WE HAVE ALREADY…

Just received my best critical review yet

By critical review, I mean he didn’t overwhelmingly love the book. And yes, I want everyone to give me 5 stars and send me checks for $100 with every download, but there’s a part of me that wants to know where the bottom is (so to speak). In Daniel’s review, he discusses the parts of Kick that he liked and the parts he was disappointed with. And overall, I agreed with him.  He’s also agreed to read the sequel (whenever that happens).

Another thing I like about this review, as well as the reviewer personally, is that he expresses his lack of enthusiasm with indie publishing, and that he found my book to be more enjoyable than many traditionally published books. I call that a win.

Here’s the review, which I’m linking to with his permission:

Bonus material:

I was intrigued enough by Daniel’s reviews that I followed him like a stalker to his website (http://www.thewayofslowtravel.com/).  If you enjoyed his review, maybe pop over there and see what else he has to say? (disclaimer: he didn’t ask me to plug his site, I just felt like it).

Authors off the Shelf — Charity anthology of short fiction, poetry and recipes

A few months ago, I got an opportunity to donate a short story to the folks at Lazy Beagle Entertainment for inclusion in an anthology of short work they were putting together.  Because I’m well-known for my charitable ways, I donated the left hemisphere of my brain to the task.  The right side was busy computing prime numbers (working on a new record). The name of my contribution is “American Glory” — a fascinating tale that’s been likened to Dickens, Hemingway, and Ray Bradbury combined, except “better.”  Just saying…
Anyway, please follow the link below to get your copy:

Interviewed by Johanna Rae

I’ve been interviewed by Johanna Rae, author of The Mercenary.

If you’re curious about the man they call John L. Monk, have a look…

The Cast of My Novel!

Carol Ervin’s post, below, is wonderful.  I actually read her book and loved it (disclaimer: she also read my book and reviewed it on Goodreads).

The cast of characters she lays out here are absolutely perfect.  Very clever post.

Have a look:

The new book cover is in!

I like it.  The other one was nice, but I worked on this one with the designer, the wonderful Damonza. It’s percolating over on Amazon now, no idea when it’ll go live.  Move your eyes a few inches to the right, there’s Dan, peeking at you.

Cheers

*update*

As of 1:06pm EST, the cover is on the sales page but isn’t showing up in the “look inside” feature, and doesn’t arrive with the purchase.  I’ll add another update once it’s fixed.

** another update **

Ok, supposedly if you buy a book you’ve bought before, you see the old cover…or something.  ie., people ‘should’ be getting the new cover.  Apparently, the new cover might not appear in the look inside feature for a week.

Fascinating survey I totally missed last month…

If you haven’t read it already:

http://e-bookformattingfairies.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/the-readers-sound-off-how-they-read.html

Rare insight into how readers choose which books they read. Take it with a grain of sodium chloride, but it’s still fascinating.

h/t to Lindy for bringing it to my attention 🙂

A new milestone in my Amazon.com Best Sellers Sales Rank – 5700

I’m happy to announce today’s been a good day for “Kick.”  If my rank continues to improve, I’ll post more screen shots (click to enlarge).
