So after some soul-searching, I decided to go with a new cover for Thief’s Odyssey. This one is a little more in keeping with other books in the genre, and the thumbnail is more readable, which is important when folks are browsing through Amazon looking for something to read. I also like the way the letters sort of pop out at you. That said, I love my old artwork to death and am sad to make the change. The previous artist did exactly what I’d asked and hoped for.
The new cover is by Lindy Moone — an incredible artist. She’s also an “Awesome Indie.” Very talented writer and designer. This new cover is, in my opinion, stunning. I love the way the letters slant into each other, drawing the eye. I love the footprints. In particular, I can’t get over that little logo she made. I didn’t even know this was going to be book one in a series, but what am I gonna do? It’s a series now. Lindy Moone has spoken…
Quick note about the new cover: I’m told by a friend that it shows up when you open the book, but the old cover still appears on your carousel/bookshelf. Clearly the image hasn’t percolated everywhere to all the various servers. Also, the new cover won’t appear if you purchased the old book.

So the last 7 days have been sort of great. Quick breakdown:
- I have my first ever author interview coming out this week (I’ll post a link to it that day)
- I have a brand new cover, which I’ve already gushed about.
- Over the weekend an Amazon Top 500, Vine Voice, Hall of Fame reviewer gave me 5 stars and tweeted/google+/facebooked/blogged my book.
- Last week, another Vine Voice reviewer positively reviewed me with 4 stars and will be blogging about me late October.
- My latest novel is going through its first round of beta reading.
So, it’s official: I’m now the happiest boy in the world.
I like it. The other one was nice, but I worked on this one with the designer, the wonderful Damonza. It’s percolating over on Amazon now, no idea when it’ll go live. Move your eyes a few inches to the right, there’s Dan, peeking at you.
As of 1:06pm EST, the cover is on the sales page but isn’t showing up in the “look inside” feature, and doesn’t arrive with the purchase. I’ll add another update once it’s fixed.
** another update **
Ok, supposedly if you buy a book you’ve bought before, you see the old cover…or something. ie., people ‘should’ be getting the new cover. Apparently, the new cover might not appear in the look inside feature for a week.
