Nook Free Fridays

Who said Friday the 13th is unlucky?  “Kick” was selected for inclusion in the “Nook Free Fridays” promotion. I think I’m gonna go break some mirrors and walk under a few ladders now 🙂

Exclusive for thee but not for mee

So unless I’m completely crazy, it looks like “The Hobbit” 75th edition is in Kindle Unlimited on Amazon, but also selling over on Apple. Am I just late to this realization, that non-indies can be in KU and not be exclusive?  What am I missing here?

First picture is from Amazon, the second is a screenshot from Apple (just open up ibooks and search for “the hobbit” to see).

The Jenkins Cycle Binge Edition: front page on iBooks

What a great Tuesday. I woke up to discover my boxed set featured on Apple iBooks. I’m actually in the process of lowering the price to 7.99 in preparation for a promo of book 1 this weekend (so as not to “rip off” anyone who thinks they’re getting a $5 deal), so if anyone’s interested in picking up the book, maybe hang on until tomorrow, after it’s 7.99 everywhere.

P.T. Hylton made the astute observation that there are 3 “Awesome Indies” being featured right now on Apple: Harvey Click, Carol Ervin, and P.T. Hylton. In this screenshot, you can see Carol’s book just to the right of “The Martian,” and my boxed set below it. We’re cornering Andy Weir to steal his mojo!

“Hopper House” today, on iBooks

What can I say? I’m loving my break from Kindle Unlimited. I do miss the additional ranking on Amazon, but building an audience on other platforms is — for me — a long term strategy.  Also, it’s really cool seeing my book at the top of the screen like this.

Mike Faricy on The Author Biz — great show for bare-bones self-pubbers

For those of you indie authors who don’t get to listen to many self-pub podcasts, here’s one with Mike Faricy. He’s a great guest on one of my favorite podcasts. He describes his mostly bare-bones approach to self-publishing, and more importantly, he talks about how his career didn’t take off until he got 5 books into a series. Before that, he’d written 5 standalone novels which didn’t really sell. By book 9 in his series, he switched careers and became a full time author.  I love his attitude: just do the damn work, move forward. Hey, it works for salmon. And like salmon, we all die at the end.

Ah, Mondays … Here’s the link again:

Kick is finally getting traction on iBooks

When I moved my books to Apple’s iBooks platform, I was sort of surprised that “Thief’s Odyssey” took off so well, and that “Kick” — my leading book on Amazon — did not. Today’s sudden appearance in the “Top Sci-fi & Fantasy” category on iBooks warms my cold, shriveled, heart. Now that sales are picking up, all I need to do is figure out which color Lamborghini best fits my rakish personality.

More iBooks news — #43 in Mysteries and Thrillers

* UPDATE 1* — Isn’t it cool how Lee Child’s book and mine sort of match? I love unintentional awesomeness. (cover design by Lindy Moone)

* Update 2 * — I didn’t want to spam people with another screenshot post, so I’ll just post today’s here. Thief’s Odyssey is at #38 🙂

* Update 3 * — 32 this morning!  I think this might be my last day in this promotion. Won’t know till later this afternoon.

Original post:

What a great Sunday. Better than that other Sunday — last Sunday. That was the Sunday where I hadn’t sold anything on iBooks since putting my book there a month ago. Haha, those days are gone, never to come again. I’ve already quit my job and taken out a loan for a private jet. Not just any private jet — this one’s a prototype developed by NASA.

Before I get carried away, here’s the latest screen shot, which I took using my brand new 120 processor super computer (also developed by NASA):

More news from my time on iBooks: Thief’s Odyssey is now ranking!

I don’t wanna sound unprofessional, but… Ya’ got served, Lee Child! Take that James Patterson! And you too David Baldacci…!

Featured placement over on Apple’s iBooks store

I have a featured spot over on Apple for “Thief’s Odyssey” and “Kick” — pretty happy about it, because it’s tough to gain traction over there.

Gather, ye, and witness the wonder and joy that is iBooks!

Super Bowl ads have nothing on me: Armcast Dead Sexy Horror Podcast

Mostly for fun, I recorded an advertisement for my latest book, “Thief’s Odyssey,” on Armand Rosamilia’s horror podcast. I love his podcast, listen to it all the time. He interviews lots of great writers and even filmmakers. He’s also sort of fun. If you’re curious, give it a try here: http://armcastpodcast.libsyn.com/arm-cast-podcast-episode-3…

My little advert is somewhere during the podcast, but I won’t say where. I’m impish that way. A rebel. Something to be reckoned with.
