I love this book cover by Awesome Indie Harvey Click

I can’t say enough how much I love this book cover, for Harvey Click’s House of Worms.

(Cover art by: http://keithdraws.wordpress.com/)

Indies like Harvey, and the other Awesome Indies, are among the finest authors in publishing today, easily up there with Koontz and Jim Butcher and various other genre authors you find in brick and mortar stores. In fact, I made sure of it before I picked them for my little list 🙂  I’ve read 2 other books by Harvey and both were amazing (The Bad Box and Demon Frenzy). I’m actually planning on buying the paperback copy of House of Worms because of the cover — and if you follow my blog, you know I don’t normally buy paperbacks anymore.

P.T. Hylton states his writing goals

Quick reminder: if you can only purchase 1 free book before the year ends, don’t download my dumb book, pick up Dell Zero by Carol Ervin. One of the best dystopian novels I’ve ever read. You’ll be an instant fan.

Now…let’s see…what the heck is P.T. Hylton going on about this time? 500k words in a year?!  Is he kidding? That’s like…hmm….(counting on fingers)…like thousands of words a day!!  Wait, no, that’s only 1400. Ok, I went to public school. Ok, I played hookey. But whatever… I’d be happy with 240k words in a year (about 3 books). I hope PT can do it, but even if he only gets 499,999, that’s still pretty good isn’t it? 🙂

P.T. Hylton tears the roof off the sucka’

Awesome Indie P.T. Hylton sings about his favorite songs of 2014. I would have posted it anyway, even if he hadn’t mentioned me, because the guy’s a hoot — and he sings and plays so well.  How’s that for a Renaissance guy? Writes, sings, plays the guitar.

Regulation 19 audiobook is now out!

Loved the sample — gets me in that Rook Mountain mindset.

Tangles and Thorns by P.T. Hylton (Awesome Indie Alert)

tangles_and_thornsAwesome Indie P.T. Hylton has released Tangles and Thorns, a fantasy novella. I’ve read it and found it fascinating–particularly the very P.T. magic system he designed. Anyone who’s read Regulation 19 will know what I mean by “very P.T.”

Glides move objects in a blur. Tangles protect, and balms cure. Shimmers change the way we see, and thorns can hurt your enemy.

Assassin Zane Halloway has been hired to kill Irving Farns, a reclusive genius whose innovations brought about a golden age of magic. Zane and his apprentice will need to infiltrate the mysterious Abditus Society and find a way to assassinate the world’s leading expert in protective magic.

THORNS AND TANGLES introduces a world of magic, mystery, and assassins. This is the first in a series of novellas, but it also stands alone as a complete story.

My interview with TJ Redig of Scrivener Soapbox

j_l_m_bio_photo_tinyI just had my first ever interview on a podcast. In it I talk quite a bit about the Awesome Indies, my book (of course), and about various things that’d be interesting to writers.  Things like marketing, productivity, and craft.  If you find yourself with time to kill, maybe give it a listen.  If you do, I’d love to know what you think. If you have/use iTunes, maybe drop a review in for TJ’s cool show. I’ve listened to about 8 episodes now.

Interview: Hugh Howey

I mentioned this guy’s site the other day. Would you believe he landed a Hugh Howey interview? Totally did. Here it is!

Sloane Howell's avatarWILL MARCK

howey, hugh

It was early afternoon last Friday at the office.  I was waiting for information from about four different people (I needed it to continue on a project) that I was sure would arrive later around 4 p.m. as they all left for the weekend.  Then, I’d have the pleasure of staying late and working into the evening.  In my bored state I thought, why not throw up a Hail Mary and see what Hugh Howey is up to, maybe he’ll answer some questions for my readers.  Much to my surprise, I had a response within about two hours that said he’d be delighted and for me to send my questions on over.  I was completely unproductive the rest of the day–doing multiple river dances and whatnot in utter elation–so if I’m jobless before the Thanksgiving holiday I may have to hit him up for a loan.

If you’re unfamiliar with…
