I’ve gotten several chapters in and I’m in awe of how well you write, Carol, and how thoroughly you’ve researched the historical details and brought them to life. Love that line “they treasured their ignorance like a family heirloom” and can’t believe how much the town folk remind me of people I saw growing up in rural Iowa, later 19thC. People are the same everywhere, eh? The story is brutal, and nobody cuts anyone any slack, it seems. I keep getting called away to do book reviews for Perihelion. That business of not being allowed to claim her husband’s paycheck – I’d never sleep again if I knew of all the world’s injustices!

I knew her when, too! I knew her when, too!
All her success is richly deserved. (Can’t wait for her NEW book to come out, too!) Meanwhile, this is the book that started it all.

At the moment her novel is #49 in paid Kindle! There are only 48 books outselling hers in the known universe!
It’s the Bookbub rocket, Harvey!
Sort of incredible point, Harvey 🙂
